The decor was neat - fifties style. The food was good. We had the "Ultimate omlette" with home fries it was really good. One person in our group said the waffle was just OK.

We rushed in here just before noon on a Saturday needing a quick (~45 minutes) lunch in the middle of a workshop nearby, and I'm a huge sucker for diners so it seemed like an awesome idea. Couldn't have been more wrong. For some reason the place was incredibly short-staffed by regular standards, much less Saturday lunch rush! Our first warning should have been when we walked in and were unable to find a clean place to sit - there were only three occupied tables, but nothing had been bussed in hours apparently. The only option was a table so sticky our hands and forearms were disgusting by the time we got our waters, which took 15 minutes. Had to keep my purse on my lap. The food (eggs) took 45 minutes to show. It was okay; we both had only 2-3 minutes to eat, so I didn't notice much about it. The only person helping the owner do everything (waitress, bus, orders, cash register) was also slow and incompetent. She spilled coffee all over our table, on top of pools of syrup that had been there since before we sat down; her cleaning solution was a couple of napkins. There was coffee dripping all over the seats. She was nice but stupid; she mixed up orders, and didn't understand how to prioritize tasks. Prepared food sat for ten minutes on the counter before she'd deliver it, and (after we took the last clean table) a number of people came in, and wanted to have lunch, but weren't able to have any place to sit and so eventually left. In the hour we were there, they served eight people including us; in that same time 19 people (no joke!) who wanted to be customers left. (They either were unable to be seated and left after a wait, or came in, sat down, and after ten minutes of being ignored got angry and left. The waitress actually started telling people to leave when they came in, saying the wait would be 45 minutes or an hour.) We considered leaving too, but had no time to find something else; we probably should have left. I gave two stars instead of one because maybe we just caught them on a REALLY bad day - like an epic, once-in-a-year totally unforeseeable multiple-waitress-scheduling-failure - the owner seemed fairly competent. We understand small businesses are more vulnerable to things like this than the faceless, many-employee chains - but you just can't expect to run a business if you're literally turning away twice as many people as you're serving.

Small locals joint. Great food and friendly, hometown service. Wanted to eat away from the historic area crowds, and love diners, so this was a great choice. In a strip mall with a theatre, but the food and service trump the location.

Horrible service. Crap food. Waited 30 min for food and place was empty. Waitress had no personality. Had to ask for enough menus for table and when I did she looked at me like I was crazy. Omelette was like plastic. Couldn't eat but since waitress never came back my husband didn't eat. No one returned to table once food was served. Had a credit card machine issue so were making people wait crazy amounts of time to settle bill and was never remedied. I told her to write down my card since we had to leave and she did. When we told her the omelette was disgusting just replied, "ok I'll tell them". This place sucks.

After completing a race recently in Amelia our first task after checking out of our hotel was to find breakfast/lunch. All I could think about was breakfast food, so I pulled up my Yelp app to see what was nearby. The closest thing was the Doo Wop's Best 50's Diner. It was on the way to the next hotel and had reasonable reviews on Yelp so we decided to give it a shot. It didn't look like much from the outside because it was in a very plain strip plaza. Inside was a different story as they took their 50's diner theme very seriously. Breakfast was served all day so both mom and I took advantage of that. I decided to go with the Big Breakfast which included Two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, Two sausage links, two bacon strips plus hash browns or grits, and choice of bread for just $9.25. I must admit that I made a pretty good dent in that breakfast. The food was tasty, the price was right, and the service was good - the perfect post-race breakfast spot.

Lots of personality in decor and atmosphere. Breakfast is fine. Coffee is basic restaurant flavor - watery. My major complaint is that it wasn't clean, especially the floor. I'm not a clean freak but the floor was dirty. There was spilled food under my feet and I had to wipe it off my shoe or I would have skated out of my seat. But dirty like it had not been washed regularly. Icky!!!

Old fashioned diner in a strip mall. Get out your poodle skirt. Food is not the best on the island..but it is fun.

This is a great find if you are down visiting the island. Even if you're driving past, I would make a detour to stop! The food was great and the malts were amazing. But, it is the service that will have me coming back! Cheyenne was great and Ms. Tina was amazing! Stop in and talk with the owner, Ms. Lisa and being her your out of state plates! Can't wait to come back!!

JUST SKIP IT. Sounded like a good idea, and I usually love these hole-in-the-wall places, but I was quite wrong. While the food was okay, and the atmosphere nostalgic, the service was abhorrent. The two waitresses and one cook working the restaurant (on a FRIDAY NIGHT) seemed to be having the hardest time managing only TWO customers inside. It took 20 minutes for them to bring our drinks (all WATER!) and the waitress kept returning from the kitchen empty handed saying that the water would "be up in a jiff." Cups were dirty and made water cloudy, and they brought the appetizer after the food, THEN informed up that they had to make all sorts of substitutions to it because they were out of some ingredients. Needless to say, we cancelled the starter and had it removed from the bill. Even upset my grandmother, who loves that type of place. I'm sure the waitress was not pleased with the tip.

The decor is themed and cute. I read some other reviews and didn't think there were an overwhelming amount of knickknacks. The food came out very quickly and the server was very friendly. My grits were good, the bacon which I asked for well done was cooked perfectly and the homemade biscuit was delicious. The omelette was pretty small and I didn't enjoy the ham they used. They also didn't have the whole array of omelette offerings I'm used to and I was really looking forward to a spinach omelette. Overall it was a good breakfast. Not somewhere I would become a regular or be dying to bring my colleagues/friends, but solidly good.

Great milkshakes. They were out of a couple crucial menu items and the rest of the food was ok, not great. The place looked like it could use a little more elbow grease on the cleaning. Service was friendly although the staff seemed harried even though it wasn't very crowded. To patronize a place like this, you would want it to be bunches better than say, McDonalds or Denny's. It was probably better than both those, but not by a lot.

Great place, excellent food, 50's style diner. I eat here every time I am on Amelia Island. Good food at a good price.

Very underwhelming for breakfast. The service was slow, but hey at least it wasn't particularly friendly! And if the 50s decor is what it is all about, they need to twist on down to another rummage sale or two to put a little more effort in on that front. Not worth a second attempt....
